Hair

I'm not really that good at doing hair, especially my own. I love finding cute hairstyles to try on McKenna and I know with lots of practice, I might actually get good at it. I tried this hair style out the other day, and only had to start over once. I'm quite proud of it and think it looks so stinkin cute on McKenna! I wonder if I could pull it off again.

February Happenings

Besides all the birthdays this month, we also...

got to spend time with the girls I use to babysit. I started watching them when Nicolletta was 3, and Marcella was 7 months. Nic is now almost 16, and Mar is 13. They are awesome girls, and the kids love spending time with them. McKenna and I got to go see Nic play basketball too. It was so nice to see them.

Nate was star of the week this month. His class got to learn all about him and he got to bring show N tell on one of the days. He also had his Valentine's Party and came home with lots of nice Valentines and treats from his classmates.

Nate got to go sing Oh Canada at the Hurricanes game with his choir. Ryan, Ty, and I got tickets as well and we all watched the game together. The boys had fun, but especially loved getting the mini donuts and shaved ice.

Hayley turned 6 months, which warrants a post all of her own, but I'm not quite prepared for that so I'll save it for next month. I'm hoping Devon will take some shots of her before she's mobile. She is just getting so big!

I taught McKenna's class in Primary for two weeks in a row. It was fun, and she has some really sweet kids in her class. I got a new calling...but haven't officially been called yet, so I'll fill you in when I can. I'm really excited about it!

For the first time since Hayley joined our family I had all the kids by myself over night. Ryan was in Calgary for work. Of course it was one of the worst nights too. McKenna usually falls asleep in our bed and then we move her back to her's when we go to bed. Since Ryan was gone, I just left her in bed with me. Well, at 3:00am she was tossing and turning and making tons of noise. Finally at 4:00am, I put her on our floor hoping that would help me get back to sleep. I drifted off, just to have Hayley wake up around 5:00am. I tried plugging her a couple of times, but no such a luck. I had to get up and feed her. McKenna woke up crying just as I was getting up with Hayley, so I moved her back into my bed and went down to feed Hayley. McKenna started crying again, so I went up to see if she wanted to sleep on the couch while I fed beanie. She said her leg was hurting and didn't want to come downstairs. I told her I had to feed Hayley and I'd be back up soon. She cried through most of the feeding. Finally by the end she had stopped and fell back asleep. Hayley went right back to sleep, and I crawled back into bed around 6:00am. Drifted off again, and then Ty was waking me up  45 minutes later, and that was that. Time to start the day. I'm so glad this doesn't happen very often. I'm like the most crabby person when I don't get a good night's sleep.

The Davis's came over for a playdate, we got to babysit our Olsen cousin's, Britt and the girls came and spent an afternoon with us, and Nate had a whole week off school so we spent lots of time together playing. I'm so glad my kids play so well together.

Four

On Sunday we had a little bday gathering for McKenna. My Dad and Penny came from Okotoks, and my brother Cody and sister Ginger came. We had Chili burgers, veggies and fruit, and brownie and ice cream for dessert. The kids had fun hunting for their treat bag fillers, and McKenna loved opening her pink DS from Grandpa and Penny (do you notice a theme here?). It was a great night! I can't believe my little girl is 4!

Is 4 years old!

She is such a sweetheart and so helpful with Hayley. She loves to play with her brothers and cousin's and loves all things princess. She loves being in dance and can't wait until she can start changing her earrings. She's got the cutest little face and loves to give hugs and cuddle with her Mommy and Daddy. We love you so much Kenna! Happy Birthday!

Heart Day

Ryan and I don't ever really do much for Valentine's day. It just depends on our moods, and whats going on in our lives whether we put effort into it or not. Besides his birthday is the day after so we usually smoosh the two things together and go out for dinner. The morning of Valentine's day...and I'm talking like 4:00am...Hayley just wasn't settling. I already had plugged her like 3 times and she just wasn't going back to sleep. I knew I would have to get up with her and feed her, and well,  I was mad. I wanted to sleep.Selfish, I know, but I am grumpy when I don't get enough sleep. Anyways, while I was getting Hayley out of her bed I noticed this pink thing stuck to the wall above her bed, it was dark though so I just picked her up and headed downstairs. Then I saw another one on the wall downstairs and realized it was a heart shaped sticky note with nice little messages from my dear husband. It was a nice surprise and made getting up to feed Hayley much more bearable. He also got me some chocolates. It made my day! Thanks Ry!

In the afternoon we had Britt and the girls over to ice Valentines cookies, we both made them the night before. We had fun icing cookies with the kids and visiting. Though I'm never prepared for holidays and almost always unorganized. I wanted to give away most of our cookies, but wasn't prepared enough and it didn't happen. Sorry friends. Hopefully next year.

Time

Where has the time gone? I can't believe its been a month since my last blog post. I have lots of catching up to do. February has been a very busy birthday month. My brother Cody's, best friend Devon's, Ryan's, and McKenna's. Cody's was first and I had everyone over for dinner. Cody chose stew and apple pie for his bday dinner. The kids practiced and put on a little play for Cody. Nate was Bowser, Ty was Mario, and McKenna was princess Peach. The kids had a lot of fun performing it, and did a good job.

Ryan turned 30 this year. He and I went to the Keg for a nice birthday dinner, and then we had a party with his family out at the farm. We had a cafe rio style meal, with shredded chicken, rice, beans, etc in a tortilla shell. It was delicious! We got to play games and hang out with the family. We even had a little chin-ups competition!

Yesterday was my best friend Devon's birthday. The night before her bday she was going out for dinner with a friend so I decided to decorate her room for her birthday with a banner, and balloons, and some flowers. I left her a card and some cake pops. She was grateful for the surprise and I had fun doing it. Then our friend Megan and I planned a birthday dinner for her with our families. Devon requested Ham and potato's and some marinated veggies, and Megan made delicious peanut butter cup cupcakes. We had such a fun time, and after the kids had gone to bed, Megs came back over and we visited until midnight. I sure love having good girl friends!

McKenna's 4th birthday was on Wednesday but we're having her party on Sunday with the Malacko's. But we did get an early present for her at the beginning of the month...

She got her ears pierced! She was really excited about it and still wanted to do it even after I told her it would hurt. She picked out her earrings and only cried a little after they did it. She loves them and is taking very good care of her ears. What a big girl!

We love celebrating birthdays but having 6 birthday parties in 3 months has certainly birthday'd me out. I'm glad I don't have any more birthday's to plan for a little while.

Five

We had Ty's bday party on Sunday. All of our family that could make it came over for Ty's choice of a Lasagna supper. We opened gifts, then the kids broke open the pinuata (which by the way completely freaked Hayley out. I've never seen her scream the way she was. I guess that could be pretty frightening to a baby who has no idea why we hung up this thing the same size as her and are beating it with a stick...she probably thought she was next), then had skor cake and icecream. It was a lot of fun! we sure appreciate all the love and support we get from our families! I know Ty loves all of you very much!
