Hayley Bean

Its been a long time since I've done an update on my baby girl, though she isn't much of a baby anymore. She is growing way too fast. She is at such a fun stage. She is:

walking up and down the stairs all by herself (though she falls atleast once a week)
eats anything and everything that we eat
climbs onto the table and chairs and anything else she can reach
loves to play with her siblings, but has also started hitting and screaming if they are bothering her
says: mama, dada, Ty, hi, cow, bye, go, thank you, more, nana (banana), papa, love you, Ginger, baby
loves to laugh and sing, and dance (especially to Taylor swifts we are never getting back together)
loves to play with balls
loves to play with dolls
loves brushing her teeth
loves to talk on the phone
has teethed all four molars
rarely sleeps through the night :(
follows simple directions (grab Mommy a diaper, sit down etc)
loves her soother
loves to give hugs and kisses
is just so sweet and precious
is learning new things and growing everyday

This Boy

I had an observation day at Ty's school the other day. I got to go and just watch him do what he does in school, then I met with Miss Pati and Ty, and she tested him on a bunch of things, and then just Miss Pati and I chatted about my little boy. He is doing so well. The first thing I noticed was his confidence and that he is well liked by everyone. When Miss Pati was testing him I loved his confidence even if he didn't know the answer he just pretended that he did and would answer anyway. Miss Pati had asked him his parents name's and he told her that I use to be a Malacko, but now I'm an Olsen. She thought that was so cute and was amazed he knew that. Here are the comments Miss Pati had about Ty:

"Ty always appears happy and ready to take anything on! We have no concerns about any areas of ty's growth and development - social, emotional, physical -both fine motor and gross motor and intellectual - both language and concepts. He is comfortable with his literacy skills. His impulsiveness he can correct and can be redirected if not being appropriate. He is a great team and group player.

Strength's:

Ty's positive, happy personality
Ty's gross motor skills
Ty's confidence in himself and his abilities.

Area's needing strengthening:

Ty's socializing when it is not an appropriate time"

I am so proud of my little guy. One of the things I really love about him is that he is such a hard worker. When McKenna came home from her dance class and had learned how to skip, Ty was determined to learn too. He practiced until he mastered it. Same with learning to tie his shoes. He also loves to help out with any chores, mostly one's we do outside. The other day when we got all that snow, he was outside with Ryan shovelling and worked the whole entire time until the job was done.

He loves to talk and we are never bored when Ty is around. He entertains us and makes us laugh all the time. We sure love you Tyger!

Sleep...or lack there of

Hayley started sleeping through the night regularly  when she was around 9 months old. Then she turned one, got a cold, teethed her molars, got a cold, teethed some more molars, got a cold, and hasn't slept through the night for three months. Some nights she won't settle again for a couple of hours. Ryan and I have been exhausted. Then a couple of months ago Nate started coming into our room at night, then Ty, and McKenna would usually be in there because we didn't want Hayley waking her up. Ryan started travelling for work, and will leave for 4 or 5 nights. I found it easier just to put the kids to sleep on our floor. Its actually nice to have them in there while Ryan is away.

see. exhausted. Trying to catch some z's, but H doesn't think its a good idea.

Ryan will be home from his last travels soon, and then we will see if we can get these kids back in their own beds. And maybe even H will start sleeping through the night. But until then..I'll enjoy my late night wake up calls and cuddle's, and the little noises I here from little's sleeping peacefully next to me :)

No Mullets here

All of my babies hair tends to grow faster on the top and at the back. For some reason the side's are always slow going. Hayley is no different. The back was getting much longer than the sides, so we had my Mother in-law give her her first trim. It seems sad to cut off your little girls hair when all you want is for them to have hair that you can do, but I don't love the whole mullet look. Hopefully the sides will start growing soon.

Halloween

We went to my sister in-law's house for a Halloween party. The kids had fun playing games and hanging out with their Shurtz cousin's. This year Nate was Harry Potter, Ty- Captain America, Kenna- a lalaloopsy character, and Hayley was a zebra.

Monday for FHE we carved pumpkins. The kids had fun. Sadly I forgot to take picture's of the finished product.

Ty had his Kindergarten Halloween party. He had a blast!

Nate went to school in the morning but didn't want to go back for his Halloween party. Weird, I know, but I didn't want to force him. Ryan was out of town for work so my friend Devon came over to help us out in the evening. I took the older kids trick or treating while she stayed at our house with the bean and handed out candy. We had a fun time. We only went around two blocks and the kids got plenty of candy. What happened to trick or treating? I remember going as a kid and tons of kids and families were out and almost everybody had their lights on. We hardly saw anyone else out and about and half the homes aren't handing out candy. We only got a handful of kids too. Its too bad.

Now I have to have some self control and not eat all their candy all day long. Wish me luck:)

Family Fun Night

On Saturday we went to the Mariner's Cove Waterpark as a family. (thats the pool at the Holiday Inn-was the Ramada). My kids still call it the Ramada's:) We had a blast! All three of the older kids loved the wave pool and the waterslides. One of the times Nate and I went down the water slide there was a bratty teenager just hanging out in the slide. I was so mad and ratted him out. Of course it scared Nate and he wouldn't go down again. I think he thought the guy got stuck in there. Hayley loves the water, but she loved climbing up and down the stairs going into the water even more. She hated the waves. We really had such a fun time. After swimming we went to eat supper at Ihop. All of our kids love breakfast foods. They all gobbled up their meals and then wanted to eat mine and Ryan's. It was a great night and we made it home in time for bath's and bed. Perfection.

Sunday we had the Primary Presentation. Ty and McKenna went up and participated and did awesome. Nate didn't want to and we didn't push it. We don't want to force our kids to do certain things but we let him know that he was letting his class and the Primary down and that he was going to miss out on doing it. We're still trying to get him to go to class. He's rubbed off on Ty now and Ty won't go to class either. Sunday's have become difficult again. Hopefully by the time Hayley goes to nursery (4 months) the boys will be back at their classes. We also had to withdraw Nate from swimming lesson's. He just didn't want to do it. We'll try again in the Spring.

I did my very first Halloween craft. Some of the girls in my ward got together and had a craft night. I'm not really a crafty person, but it was a lot of fun. I love my Halloween blocks and am happy with how they turned out.
