Today is my older brother Adam's birthday. I thought it would be fitting to post some entry's from my Mom's journal that she wrote when she was pregnant with him and about his birth. These are moments we all definitely would love to hear about, so make sure you record the precious moments you have with your babies and even ask your Mom about her pregnancy with you and your birth!

"The baby’s (we are going to call him Adam if he’s a boy) crib and things are all set up in ginger’s room. His sleepers washed and sewn are sitting on the bassinette waiting for a dresser; his diapers are piled neatly in rows waiting for a little bottom to cover. When I was washing his things Ginger had to feel and smell each article to make sure they were clean and fresh enough for her new baby. She’s waiting patiently for his arrival, unlike his mother who is biting her nails and pacing the floor. Whenever anyone asks Ginger what the Easter Bunny is bringing her she says, “A baby brother.” I sure hope she’s right.
She is awake now and in the kitchen eating her “rice krispispies” or sometimes she has “freddies” instead. She really does talk quite well for her age and she can count to 20 and say her alphabet and she knows lots of songs and nursery rhymes. The first song she ever learned was Frere Jacques and she can even count to 5 in French. That makes her bilingual. The other day she came up to me and said in a forlorn little voice, “Mom, please don’t take my sunshine away.” I sure laughed.

Well, I don’t know where to begin. I guess I’ll just start by saying I have a new strong healthy son. He was born on the 12th of April at 12:30am and he weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. He arrived 3 weeks late, landing on his Dad’s birthday. Jim is thrilled, to say the least.
Dr. Stewart was terrific and he really helped me a lot. The labor and delivery was worse than the first time, but Adam Ja-Hon was worth every minute of it. He came into the world very quietly- no crying at all and Dr. Stewart laid him on my stomach while his umbilical cord was still attached. He is so unlike Ginger that it was a shock at first. She was so tiny and frail with delicate features and beautiful, clear, rosy skin – a perfect angel. Adam, on the other hand, is fat and puffy with red splotchy skin. But, of course, he is still beautiful to me.
He laid there on my stomach, very much at peace with his new world and I marveled at the miracle of creation displayed there in that little body and my heart was so full, it almost burst. Thank you dear Father for our little son.

Adam is 4 weeks old today and he’s getting bigger and cuter every day. He’s a good baby and not much trouble except he sure doesn’t sleep. His face is so full of character it makes me laugh to look at him. It reminds me of Clement Moore’s “Twas the Night Before Christmas” when he wrote, “He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf. And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.” Adam is really starting to smile now and we all get so much pleasure from him."
Happy Birthday Adam!
