Relay for Life!

This is our second year participating in the Relay for Life. Its a 12 hour walk/fundraiser for Cancer research. Its also a great way to get together with our family and honor those who have experienced cancer, and to remember my Mom and her brother Barry. We set up camp with lots of food, chairs, blankets, tents, and family everywhere! As long as one person from our team is walking, the rest of us can visit and spend time together. They had a few bands playing, a massage tent set up, and a kids tent where they could play games and get their faces painted. Some people go all out and wear funny costumes, have banners with slogans, and walk around the track chanting. One team even had leather couches to relax on. We're a little more low key, but we always have a good time...especially in the wee hours of the morning when we're all delirious! When it gets dark they have luminaries that they light up for people who have died from cancer or who are fighting cancer. They line the track and keep it lit up when we're walking in the dark. This year we brought Nate with us and left the other two with my in-laws. Nate had fun and was such a good boy. He even slept really good through all the noise. After 12 hours I'm exhausted and my feet are very sore, but it is definitely worth it!
