Nate's been making some progress with his anxiety. He is doing really well at school now. He doesn't cling to me and cry when I leave which was what we were first focusing on. He is still really attached to his teacher at school though. He won't go out for recess unless she is on supervision, and doesn't like to be without her at other classes. He is worried every morning that there will be a substitute teacher. Hopefully that day won't come soon cause I'm worried about how he'll react to that. He is also needing less reassurance from us. These are big steps for him and I am so proud. He got his new xbox game for doing so well at school and I think he is even proud of himself.
We've been working with a counsellor from Mental Health for a few weeks and she has taught us all about anxiety and how Nate can fight it. He has a great understanding of this and so she thinks we can stop coming for now and see how it goes. He still needs a lot of help in other area's but there isn't much she can do that we as his parents can't do. I feel good about this decision as well. I think it makes more sense to work with the school counsellor now.
Next we need to work on recess, church, swimming lesson's, bedtime, and being left in the van while I run quick errands. Wish us luck!
