Didn't get much of these sent out this year...so here it is, for all the world to enjoy!
It seems as though each year goes by faster and faster. Sometimes I wish I could stop time so I can really enjoy those perfect moments that being a Mother and spending time with family brings. In the spring we celebrated one of those perfect moments with Dad and Penny as they were married. The kids all looked so cute and did a fantastic job on their ring bearer and flower girl duties, and stole the show with their skinna-marink song. We had such a fun and happy weekend with family! We are so thrilled to have Penny in our family, and are so happy that Dad found another special person to spend his life with.
Nate has started Kindergarten and is loving it, and doing well. He taught himself to sight read and is already reading children’s books very well. He is so smart and loves to learn. He has impressed me so much with how brave and confident he is getting, especially with his swimming lessons. He jumps into the deep end all by himself, does his floats and swims a short distance unassisted. He is very proud that he can stick his head under the water for 11 seconds. He also played T-ball in the spring and had so much fun and is getting better with his ball skills. He is really into Harry Potter right now. He dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween and is having a Harry Potter themed birthday in December, where he will turn six. He is a good big brother and still loves to spend time with his Daddy and Mommy. We sure love having him in our family!
Ty is still keeping me on my toes with his curiosity and knack for mischief. I guess I need to resign myself to the fact that he will probably always be that way. But he sure lights up a room with his personality and charm. He’s starting to quote and act out movies and tells the funniest stories. I may have a little actor on my hands. He loves being outside doing boy things and especially loves being out on my in-laws farm, and has even told them many times that he wishes he could live there. He loves helping Grandpa and Daddy with any kind of farm work and loves riding the quad and tractor. He’s also really into Harry Potter and I can often find him with his Gryffindor robe on, wand in hand, shouting out spells. I was worried that he would be bored without Nate at home in the mornings, but he has actually been playing quite well with McKenna. He will be 4 in January and is so much fun to have around.
McKenna is such a little girl and loves her dolly’s and princesses and all things little girl, but can also get rough and tough with her brothers. I can’t believe my baby girl will be 3 in February. She is talking very well and makes us laugh all the time. She’s starting to get the hang of using the potty but isn’t quite there yet. Hopefully within the next couple of months. We moved her from her crib into a toddler bed and she has transitioned very well. She loves to play in her room all by herself with her toys. It is so nice! I love a child that can entertain themselves! She loves to sing and dance (especially with her princess skirts on) and sings a mean “Jesus wants me for a Sunbeep!” (Sunbeam!). She can throw some pretty big tantrums and has this really loud high-pitched scream. People can hardly believe the noise is coming from such a tiny little thing. She warms our hearts and is adored by all of us!
Ryan and I just celebrated our 7 year anniversary and were lucky enough to be able to go to Orlando, Florida for a few days. We went to Universal Studio’s to the new Harry Potter theme park and had such a fun, amazing time. It was so nice to be able to celebrate our anniversary in such a big way. We both teach the 3-4 year old Primary class at church, and have loved it and have grown close to the little ones in our class. We will be sad to say goodbye when they move up in the New Year. We’ve been working hard to get out of debt and should be in the next couple of months. What a great feeling that will be! We are also planning on building our own home next year and can’t wait to get started on that.
We feel extremely grateful for our little family, and can’t wait to see what the New Year will bring us. We are grateful for all of you, and hope the Christmas season is a merry one, and that the New Year brings you much joy!
Love the Olsen’s,
Ryan, Kelli, Nate, Ty, and McKenna

December.
This December hasn't been my best. Christmas crept up on me and I didn't feel ready for it. I didn't do any baking, only half of my Christmas cards were sent out (sorry if you didn't get one), and didn't end up doing half of the things I like to for Christmas. I've been extremely exhausted, sick, and cranky. I've been living off of toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, apples, and oranges. I lay on the couch way too much and cry over every little thing! This can only mean one thing...yep, you guessed it...I'm pregnant! This is actually a really good and exciting thing but it sure is kicking my butt right now. It can only get better though...right? I'm almost 9 weeks, and am due August 8th. Our family is extremely happy and excited! Here's to hoping for a better 2nd trimester! Only 4 more weeks to go!
Our New Years was so much fun! We had a big party at my Grandparents and Uncle and Aunts house (they live in a big house with an in-law suite). Lots of my cousin's and another aunt and uncle were there. We played games, ate lots of delicious food and had a really fun time. I even felt pretty good the whole time. Our family slept over, so we were even able to put the kids to bed and stay up late visiting. Nate stayed up for his first New Years. I think he loved it! It felt like old times. The last time we had a New Years like that was my Mom's last New Years with us. It was just so much fun!
We have some big things happening this year that we're really looking forward to. Of course adding a new addition to our family is one of them, we're also moving to Raymond in the summer because we're going to be building a new house out there! We are excited that owning our own house is actually going to happen soon! I'm not sure about the whole living in Raymond thing, but being in my own house will be worth it! I hope you all had a fabulous New Years and that 2011 is even better for you then 2010!
Alright. You guys will be the first and probably the only one's to see my first preggo pic...ha ha ha, if you can call it that. Here I am at 6 weeks. Can you tell I'm pregnant.

Christmas!
Christmas Eve!
Christmas eve we spent the day and evening with the Olsen's out at my in-laws farm. First up...Gingerbread houses! These houses were awesome because they were already put together. The kids just had to put the candy on! So easy.
The kids spent all afternoon outside. It was beautiful out! They rode the side by side and the snowmobile. They had so much fun! Ty coming in all tired out.
McKenna lookin all adorable!
Grandma and Grandpa do a fish pond with the kids. They fish for their gifts from them. The kids love it! Before we did the fish pond we had a fabulous turkey dinner! everything was delicious! I have to give a shout out to all the Olsen boys...and Jode, for cleaning up dinner! What a great bunch of guys!
Then we have our Christmas Program. Roy read from the bible, we sang songs, Jennica and Ben played their violin's, and the kids acted out the Nativity. Its always so nicely done! Ty and McKenna were our Mary and Joseph. McKenna took the job very seriously and sat so still and good the whole time.
Getting ready to open some gifts! We always get p.j's Christmas eve!
The kids in their new p.j's!
Christmas Day!
Christmas morning is so exciting and so special! I love the excitement as we all wake up and go down the stairs together to see if Santa came. When the kids see that he did, its so fun to watch their reactions! We always open our stockings first, then do our gift's to Jesus, and then open our gifts.
Around 11:00am my siblings arrived at our house and we ate a Pancake brunch. Then we did some Christmas singing and Ginger did a little lesson with the kids. We opened a few gifts from the cousin's and then just hung out and played with our new toys.
Around 4:00pm we headed out to my Grandma and Grandpa Shurtz's in Raymond where we eat snacky food and play games, and visit with all the cousin's. We put on a little nativity. Nate and Ty were wisemen, and McKenna was the Angel. We always have a great time and stay till late.
Boxing Day!
This year was our first to wake up on boxing day and head out to Okotoks to my Dad and Penny's house.
We did our Santa bags, and the kids opened their gifts from Grandpa and Penny! They were so spoiled. Then we went sledding by Grandpa's house, had another amazing turkey dinner and visited and played games all night!
We slept over and did some shopping the next day. Then back to Grandpa's for turkey buns and left overs, then we headed back home!
We had such a fantastic Christmas with all of our family! We feel so blessed and are so grateful for our Savior and all that he's done for us! Now for a couple of days of rest and getting organized until we celebrate the New Year!

Early.
But first a little something from my Mom's journal:
DEC 17, 1978
"We went to Mom's for dinner today and Jim even came. SHOCK!! On our way home we stopped and bought a Christmas tree which cost us $12. Ginger was so excited and she helped Jim pick it out while Adam and I stayed inside the warm truck."
For those of you who have been faithful readers of my blog you'll know that I complain about my camera A LOT! Its true, I despise that thing. Well, I got an early Christmas present and guess what it is...yep, a new camera! Technically its okay that I got it early because I need it to take pictures with at Christmas, and if I had to use my other one again I might seriously lose my mind! I really wanted a camera that I didn't have to do anything with but turn on and take the picture, and the picture would be perfect. I don't know if a camera like that exists, but this one isn't like that. You do have to change certain settings for certain places to get a good shot, and I have to remember to manually put the flash up, but other than that, its pretty good. Its pretty easy to change the settings if I need to. I've been playing around with it and getting use to which settings work the best. I think it will turn out good. Really, anything is better then my old one! Thanks honey for the early Christmas present! I Love it! Here's some of the pics I took while playing around. My kids are adorable little subjects!

I just don't want it to be a bad day.
WARNING: This post may not be for the weak stomached. Only for those tough Mommy tummies!
This morning Ty was complaining about a sore tummy. He was tooting a lot so I told him he might need to go to the bathroom. He did, but his tummy was still sore. I told him after we drove Nate to school he could lay down and watch a movie. Nate's school is all the way on the North side, so its a good 15 minute drive from our house. About 3/4 of the way there IT happend...Ty threw up EVERYWHERE! And alot. Nate was screaming "Eww. Eww." and I just hoped his weak stomach and sensitivity to smells would not send him in the same direction as Ty. Its so hard to watch your baby spewing and there is nothing you can do. Absolutely nothing. We were driving on Scenic Drive and there was no where to pull over, not that there was anything I could do if I could pull over. I tried to comfort Ty with words through the whole ordeal. We made it to Nate's school, got him out of the van in one piece. And then I sped home as fast as I legally could. Poor Ty had to sit there in his puke for a good 20 minutes, and the smell wasn't pleasant for the rest of us either. On the drive home Ty's little voice said "Mommy, I just don't want this to be a bad day". My heart ached. We never want our kids to have bad days. We know there inevitable and we can't protect them from everything, but it sure is awful to watch. We made it home, got Ty in the bath, cleaned out the van, washed the car seat, and threw his clothes and jacket in the wash. Well Ty, things are starting to look up. Maybe this won't be such a bad day after all!
**note to self: when your child says their tummy is bothering them and you have to drive somewhere, bring a bucket, just in case.

Mama's Journal
Dec 14th, 1978
"I've been busy getting ready for Christmas. On Saturday we're going to get our tree and I can just imagine Adam's reaction to it - CHARGE!!! The house is looking quite festive with boughs of holly and sparkling tinsel decking its halls. I love Christmas and everything about it - the beautiful carols, the smell and taste of special goodies and the cozy warm feeling that comes from being inside on a cold winter night and especially the love and good will that is seen everywhere in abundance. Only the love of a precious Savior can bring that kind of peace to an unrighteous world even if only for a short time."
Hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season! It really is such a special time of year!
McKenna stopped taking naps about 6 months ago which was crazy to me. Both the boys napped until they were 3 and then probably would have kept napping if I let them. I do find her like this occasionally...
She was on the floor playing and I literally looked away for 10 seconds to talk to Nate and looked back and she was out.

Harry Potter party!
Remember those awesome invitations I made for Nate's birthday party for his friends from school? Well Saturday was the big day! The big Harry Potter party! We actually started celebrating Nate's birthday Friday night when his cousin Ben came to have a sleepover and Ryan and I took them out for dinner. We went to Firestone. The boys had fun! They get a long so well. Of course they went to bed way too late, but isn't that what sleepover's are all about!
Nate and Ben in the hotel lobby at Firestone!
Saturday we had his party with all his little friends from 1-3pm at my Dad's house. Thank goodness we decided to do it there! Seven little boys (including Ty) have a lot of energy, and all the extra space was needed for running around. When all the boys arrived they were sorted into a house. We put a hat on their head and they picked a slip of paper from a cup which had their house written on it. I made house crest necklaces that they wore. If you've seen the movies they always clap once someone is sorted. Without any prompting Nate got everyone clapping once someone was sorted. It was so fun! We had 3 Gryffindor's, 2 Hufflepuffs, and 2 Ravenclaws! We decided no Slytherin's would be welcome at this party!
The House Crest's!
After the sorting we played a few games. The first game was pass the golden snitch. The boys sat in a circle and passed a little gold ball to each other while the music (yes Harry Potter music that Ryan found on his phone!) played. Whoever had the snitch when the music stopped was out until there was one little boy left! Then we played find the philosopher stone. One of the boys hid a rock and then the rest had to find it. Then we had a quidditch race. They had a stick between their legs and they had to run from point A to point B without using their hands to hold on to the stick. It was lots of fun. After the first game one little boy said to me "I'm all gamed out". ha ha ha...too funny. After that we just let them play. We ate cake and opened presents and then they played until their parents came to get them. It was a lot of fun but we were sure glad when it was all over. Nate had a lot of fun and was happy to have all his little friends over to play. For party favor's we gave them Bertie Bott's every flavored beans (jelly bellies) and chocolate frogs (frog jelly's dipped in chocolate) and their own snitch's (a bouncy ball). It was a big success!
A golden snitch on Nate's cake! (Thanks Ginger!)
An hour later mine and Ryan's immediate families started to gather for dinner. I asked Nate what he wanted for his birthday dinner and he said "Ichiban!". So we had Ichiban and chili burgers, with veggies and chips. It was so nice for our families to come out and support Nate. He got to open a few more gifts and ate some more cake. It was such a good day for him and I know he felt special. Thank you to all who made it a special day for him!
ps. The first thing he said to me in the morning on his birthday was "Mommy I'm six now...I can run really, really fast now, just like Ben!" I wish it worked like that Bud! I'm glad you had such a fantastic birthday! Love you lots!

Well, Spring is here! The weather has been so beautiful! The grass is turning green, things are starting to bloom, But better yet, Ryan and I found out that I am pregnant last night! Nothing gets better then that! We are so excited! I can't believe it has finally happened. I feel so grateful for the opportunity to be a Mother. I can't wait to see Ryan as a Daddy. We will be such a cute family! Mom's going to be a Grandma! She'll be so excited! She's in Europe and doesn't get back until the 18th. What are the chances!! I am so happy! Life is so good. Its general conference today, which makes it so much better. I love spring!

Well, I guess its actually the 3rd seeing how its 12:45am. I'm still pregnant and couldn't sleep. I'm only a couple of days past my due date but it feels like 2 weeks. I'm so uncomfortable, tired, and I want to have more then 3 outfits to wear again, but mostly I just want to bring my son home. I'm also anxious about the labor and delivery that I just want to get it done so I don't have to think about it anymore. Oh well, I guess there isn't much I can do about it. I am excited though because its December, which means Christmas!
JAN 19, 2005
Man, its been so long I don't even know where to begin. I guess with the most important thing. I'm sitting here staring at my beautiful son Nathan James Olsen. He's already 6 weeks old. I can't believe it. Well, I got through the labor and delivery. It really is the worst pain I have ever felt. The epidural was like magic! I was in labor for about 9 hours. I had Nate at 12:08am on December 11th, 2004. He came out calm and alert. he wasn't even crying. He was so precious. It was the most amazing feeling to finally get Nate out of me and to be able to see him. It felt like my greatest accomplishment. The first thing I thought was that he looks like Ryan. Now we have Nate and he is such blessing. He is so fun! He smiles all the time and he is so strong! He can hold his head up so well, he is so wiggly and just so darn handsome. The first few weeks were hard because I was so sore and so tired, but things are good now. I'm back at work and its going good. The girls love Nate and help out so much. I just love being a Mom. Its the best feeling in the world. Ryan is such a good Dad and it makes me love him even more! Mine and Ryan's families love and spoil Nate so much! Life is really good, harder, but good.
I can't believe I've been so blessed to have spent 6 whole years with you Nate! I love you so, so much! Happy 6th birthday!

Nate's Christmas Concert!
We went to Nate's Christmas concert Tuesday night! It was so cute and fun to watch his little class perform. They did 8 really cute numbers, and the kids did fantastic! Nate was a gun, a wiseman, a panda, was in a paper plate band, sang and danced! There was a bit of everything! We were so proud of Nate. His Grandpa and Grandma Olsen, Grandpa Jim, Uncle Cody, Erica, and Auntie Ginger and Devon all come to support him and I know he felt special having them all there. After the concert Santa came and the kids could sit on his lap and get a candy cane. Ty and McKenna were excited, but Nate wouldn't go anywhere near him. It was a really good night. The lighting was so bad in the room where they performed so sadly we didn't get any picture's that are worth posting. Besides this beauty...
Ryan tried to do Ty's hair like this for the concert! Thank goodness he had the sense to say "No Way Dad"!

Toffifee!
Here's my sweet little Ty guy begging me to open the Toffifee that is sitting under our tree...
too bad his Mommy is such a meanie and is making him wait until Christmas Eve. It was always a tradition at our house growing up. I'm not sure why. There it sat, teasing us. The only thing under the tree just staring at us, making our mouths water! Every year we had to wait until Christmas Eve. So, I guess I'm putting my kids through the same torture!
We took the kids to see Santa at the mall on the weekend. Ty and McKenna both sat on Santa's lap. Nate gripped my hand and stood behind me the whole time. Ty asked for "a chocolate bar, and Ben's shoes (my nephew), and McKenna asked for "princesses". They loved it. Poor Nate though. The whole way to the mall he was trying to convince someone to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas. I kept telling him he had to do it himself. That he didn't even have to sit on his lap, he could just stand beside him and talk to him, but nope, he wouldn't do it. I think he's afraid that if he doesn't tell Santa what he wants then he won't get anything.
Sorry, no pic. I'm too cheap. Besides Santa is coming to Nate's Christmas concert tomorrow night. Maybe we'll get a picture then. A free one!

Blog to Book!
So awhile back a friend of mine did a blog post about getting her blog turned into a book. I had no idea there were programs that could do that and got so excited! I was on a mission and didn't waste anytime trying to do the same. First I went to the website she had ordered her books from Lulu.com. I'm sure its a great site, but I'm not very computer literate so I need something that is very straightforward. This wasn't. Not to me anyway, so I googled "turning blogs into books" and found a great website blurb.com. All I had to do was download their book making program (which was free) and then it transferred my blog right into the program and in book format. Then I could go in and rearrange it the way I wanted it. After a few days I sent it away and in a about a week I got this...

I LOVE it! and so do the kids. They love finding the stories that are about them. We definitely treasure it and I can't wait to make our 2010 copy! Everyone should look into this! It is a great thing to have! By the way, I spent $30 on my copy. Its hard cover with colored pictures. So worth it.

Owl Post!
We're having a Harry Potter themed birthday party for Nate in one week! I am so excited about this party and my head has just been spinning with so many fun idea's. Today we delivered our invites! For those who are familiar with Harry Potter they send their mail by owl. So here's our invites...
We taped these to all his little friends doors and knocked and then ran away. So, they were delivered by owl post. We had so much fun! I only hope one of them really understood what it all meant. I'm not sure if any of them are familiar with Harry Potter. On the envelope it read:
I'll use my nephew Ben's as an example: (which by the way Jacki I'll be sending his out with Roy and Connie Tuesday night, so someone will have to tape it to your door! At least I know he'll appreciate it!)
Mr. B. Olsen
The coolest room in the house
address
Cardston, Alberta
Here's how the actual invite goes:
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmistress: Kelli Raylene Malacko Olsen
