Christmas Letter 2010!

Didn't get much of these sent out this year...so here it is, for all the world to enjoy!

It seems as though each year goes by faster and faster. Sometimes I wish I could stop time so I can really enjoy those perfect moments that being a Mother and spending time with family brings. In the spring we celebrated one of those perfect moments with Dad and Penny as they were married. The kids all looked so cute and did a fantastic job on their ring bearer and flower girl duties, and stole the show with their skinna-marink song. We had such a fun and happy weekend with family! We are so thrilled to have Penny in our family, and are so happy that Dad found another special person to spend his life with.

Nate has started Kindergarten and is loving it, and doing well. He taught himself to sight read and is already reading children’s books very well. He is so smart and loves to learn. He has impressed me so much with how brave and confident he is getting, especially with his swimming lessons. He jumps into the deep end all by himself, does his floats and swims a short distance unassisted. He is very proud that he can stick his head under the water for 11 seconds. He also played T-ball in the spring and had so much fun and is getting better with his ball skills. He is really into Harry Potter right now. He dressed up as Harry Potter for Halloween and is having a Harry Potter themed birthday in December, where he will turn six. He is a good big brother and still loves to spend time with his Daddy and Mommy. We sure love having him in our family!

Ty is still keeping me on my toes with his curiosity and knack for mischief. I guess I need to resign myself to the fact that he will probably always be that way. But he sure lights up a room with his personality and charm. He’s starting to quote and act out movies and tells the funniest stories. I may have a little actor on my hands. He loves being outside doing boy things and especially loves being out on my in-laws farm, and has even told them many times that he wishes he could live there. He loves helping Grandpa and Daddy with any kind of farm work and loves riding the quad and tractor. He’s also really into Harry Potter and I can often find him with his Gryffindor robe on, wand in hand, shouting out spells. I was worried that he would be bored without Nate at home in the mornings, but he has actually been playing quite well with McKenna. He will be 4 in January and is so much fun to have around.

McKenna is such a little girl and loves her dolly’s and princesses and all things little girl, but can also get rough and tough with her brothers. I can’t believe my baby girl will be 3 in February. She is talking very well and makes us laugh all the time. She’s starting to get the hang of using the potty but isn’t quite there yet. Hopefully within the next couple of months. We moved her from her crib into a toddler bed and she has transitioned very well. She loves to play in her room all by herself with her toys. It is so nice! I love a child that can entertain themselves! She loves to sing and dance (especially with her princess skirts on) and sings a mean “Jesus wants me for a Sunbeep!” (Sunbeam!). She can throw some pretty big tantrums and has this really loud high-pitched scream. People can hardly believe the noise is coming from such a tiny little thing. She warms our hearts and is adored by all of us!

Ryan and I just celebrated our 7 year anniversary and were lucky enough to be able to go to Orlando, Florida for a few days. We went to Universal Studio’s to the new Harry Potter theme park and had such a fun, amazing time. It was so nice to be able to celebrate our anniversary in such a big way. We both teach the 3-4 year old Primary class at church, and have loved it and have grown close to the little ones in our class. We will be sad to say goodbye when they move up in the New Year. We’ve been working hard to get out of debt and should be in the next couple of months. What a great feeling that will be! We are also planning on building our own home next year and can’t wait to get started on that.

We feel extremely grateful for our little family, and can’t wait to see what the New Year will bring us. We are grateful for all of you, and hope the Christmas season is a merry one, and that the New Year brings you much joy!

Love the Olsen’s,

Ryan, Kelli, Nate, Ty, and McKenna
