What a busy weekend! Saturday my sister in-law and I woke up extra early to go to a session at the temple. What a perfect way to start the Thanksgiving weekend! I'm sure grateful that we live so close to a beautiful temple, and for the spirit that I felt attending that morning. It was an extra boost that is always needed.
I'm also really grateful for the special bond and relationship that I have with my sister in-law. She fits into our family perfectly and its hard to believe she's only been my sister for a short time. She's sweet, generous, fun, and really good to talk to. Love ya Britt!
In the afternoon I took Nate to his first birthday party! What a birthday party it was. There was about 15 kids from his class, and another 6 or 7 on top of that. They had rented a gym, had an astro-jump, craft table, and a big blow-up target that you threw these balls at. They had tons of food, a snow cone maker, and popcorn maker, and a 3 tiered cake. Beautiful decorations and lots of people. It was insane. I was surprised at how many people just dropped their kids off and left. I guess I'm not as trusting. Besides Nate's a bit shy so he doesn't like me to leave him with people he doesn't know. He probably would have been okay with me leaving when one of his little friends came but I stayed because there were tons of people there that I didn't know. He had a really fun time. I'm grateful that he's doing so well in Kindergarten, that he's making friends, and getting more and more confident. Love him!
Saturday night we had our first ever Thanksgiving with my siblings. We all split up the tasks and came together and made a fabulous dinner! It was delicious and we were so proud of ourselves. I'm grateful for Devon for being in charge of the Turkey and for the beautiful table set up. I don't know why, but cooking a Turkey seems so scary and stressful. It was delicious! I'm grateful that my siblings live close and we get to spend lots of time with them!
Sunday we headed out to Cardston (after Stake Conference, which by the way was excellent) and spent the afternoon and evening with Roy and Connie. I've said it before and I'll probably continue to say it but I really have the best in-laws ever. We always have such a nice visit. Monday the rest of Ryan's family gathered and we had another fabulous Turkey dinner. I'm grateful that all of Ryan's family live close by too. Its nice to be surrounded by family! We had so much fun playing battle of the sexes and I have to admit, the boys did beat us. I'm grateful for the farm, and the beautiful land that it's on. The kids spend most of their time outside and there is such a special, peaceful feeling there.
I have so many blessings, but at this time I'm especially grateful for a loving Father in Heaven who answers prayers, for a gospel which brings and keeps families close and eternal, and for a nice warm, cozy bed which I'm about to go crawl in to!
Happy Thanksgiving friends!
